Tip # 7: Use a smaller plate; it’s all about portion control

Without a doubt, using a smaller plate is one of the things that has helped me with this whole portion control thing. I grew up being told that it is terrible to throw away food, so I always feel awful when I waste food. However, if you love food as much as I do, what happens when you have a mouth watering heap load on your plate, you stuff yourself to a point of no return; you feel your pants getting tighter in the waist by the second, you can’t stand straight, perhaps you even hear your bed calling out your name…you know all about that don’t you? :).

One may ask, what do I do while dining out? Well, most of us cannot control how much food can be served on our plates at a restaurant; in fact if the food is little one may feel cheated. Truth is most restaurants serve double portions (enough for two meals). Therefore, one option is to ask for a doggy bag when the food arrives to divide up your food. This may however not be the cool thing to do on a date so hey, “what you gon’ do?” Just remember that to maintain a healthy weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume. As long as you are not heaping mountains on your plate on a daily basis and you are also exercising regularly, you should be okay. But most importantly listen to your stomach, when you feel satisfied, call it quits and always keep in mind that eating from a smaller plate may lead to a smaller waist.

I’m out for now!
