Tip # 5: Your stomach loves food: Eat regularly (Ideally 5 – 6 meals in a day)

Consuming 5-6 small meals as opposed to one huge meal in a day will help you lose or maintain a healthy weight.

Why: Eating regularly helps your body to burn fuel more efficiently (i.e. high metabolism).  Having a high metabolism means that your body is burning calories at a greater rate than average. I know I am all for that.

For instance, take a look at how I spread out my meals during the day (I can’t go longer than 3 hours; that’s just me).

  • Breakfast    – 8:30 am                (e.g.  Whole grain cereal mixed with a chopped banana or blueberries)
  • Snack 1       – 10:30 am              (e.g. Yogurt and a fruit)
  • Lunch          – 1:00 pm                (e.g. grilled chicken wrap & some veggies)
  • Snack 2       – 3:30 pm                (e.g. Whole wheat crackers with a low fat dip or a salsa sauce)
  • Snack 3       – 6:00 pm               (e.g. Fruit & an ounce of cheese)
  • Dinner         – 8:00 pm                (e.g. Whole wheat Couscous, salmon & veggies)

I hope this gives you an idea on how you can spread out your meals throughout the day. Remember small portions, don’t overdo it now…lol. I will be posting a blog on portion control; sizes etc…come back soon to check it out  🙂

Really? I can eat these many times and not add on more weight?

  2. Virginia says:

Yes, you can :). You do however have to watch your portion sizes and also exercise regularly.
